Sunday, September 2 - This Sunday we gather at the Lord’s Table for the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Lectionary: Song of Solomon 2:8-13; Psalm 45:1-2, 6-9; James 1:17-27; Mark 7:1-8, 21-23. The sermon will focus on James 2:1-13 and Leviticus 19:9-18.

Sunday, September 9 – Church School will resume this Sunday, with the children being dismissed following the Songs of Praise. Lectionary: Proverbs 22:1-2,8-9,22-23; Psalm 125; James 2:1-17; Mark 7:24- 37. The sermon will focus on James 2:14-26 and Romans 3:21-4:5.

Sunday, September 16 –Lectionary: Proverbs 1:20-33; Psalm 19; James 3:1-12; Mark 8:27-38. The sermon will focus on James 3:1-12 and Matthew 15:1-2, 10-11, 15-20.

Sunday, September 23 – Lectionary: Proverbs 31:10-31; Psalm 1; James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a; Mark 9:30-37. The sermon will focus on James 3:13-4:3, 7-8 and Psalm 1.

Sunday, September 30 – Lectionary: Esther 7:1-6, 9-10; 9:20-22; Psalm 124; James 5:13-20; Mark 9:38- 50. The sermon will focus on James 4:13-17 and Luke 12:13-21.
Starting Sunday, August 19, Pastor David will start a ten-week series on James’ letter to the church. Readings from the book of James were included in the lectionary for the five Sundays of September but this will expand our reflection to cover the whole epistle. The lectionary readings used each Sunday will be somewhat different from those listed in the lectionary above. The regular scriptures are included above for your weekly study and reflection. You may also want to read the second set of readings as you anticipate the Sunday morning message. Sunday, July 1- “The 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time” – This Sunday Nolan Roy will be giving the sermon. Lectionary: 2 Samuel 1:1, 17-27; Psalm 130; 2 Corinthians 8:7-15; Mark 5:21-43.
